Just an Everyday Thing, Right?[OPEN]

Kito was out for only a few moments. He groaned softly and opened one eye. The color in his eyes kept shiftin and getting darker. He tried pushing himself up, but it was as if his body were on fire. What was wrong with him? Why was he.....? His back arched as if electricity had gone through him. "Ahhh!" He scream as pain hit him hard.

"Scheiße!" Paetra hissed as Kito began to scream and flail. Quickly, she tore a piece of fabric from her tunic and shoved it into his mouth so he wouldn't bite off his tongue, and pressed a hand to his back to support him, taking care to avoid his wings. "Aessa, can you hold him up for a moment? I need to grab my satchel from the roof, it has painkiller and bandages within it." Without waiting for a response, she unfastened her cape and crushed it into a makeshift pillow. She placed it underneath him, and bounded off for the ladder to the roof.

"Make sure he doesn't choke on the fabric," she called, wincing as the cold air chilled her forearms. It was a lot colder without the added warmth of a second layer. Paetra took a moment to thank the gods she stil had gloves on, and swore that she would grow her hair out long enough to provide shelter from the wind, archery be damned. At last, she made it to the top, and grabbed the bag. "I'll be right down," she called.

Aessa quickly followed Paetra's orders, holding him up. "Kito, hang in there. It'll be alright.." She muttered, trying to calm him. It didn't even occur to her to wonder what happened, besides the fact he was hurt. She watched him carefully, making sure he didn't choke. Thank god Paetra was quick, because Aessa wasn't sure how long he'd last, or rather, how long she would last in this position. Aessa nodded in relief when Paetra called out, studying Kito's shape. Would he really be okay, like that? I mean... with painkillers, he'd feel fine, but in reality, he wouldn't be. At least she had bandages, too.. But she wasn't a professional, and Aessa wasn't sure how bad Kito was.

Kito relaxed only a little before another wave of fire and pain went through him. He wanted the pain to stop, but he had no idea what was wrong with him. He tried to remember what had happened to him to cause this pain. Was it poison from that drink he had gotten in the last town he was in? Was it infection or a disease from the wound on his back? He had gotten it from a battle with a demon a few days back. Was it that? Was it something else? He cried out again as his back wound burned.

Kito relaxed only a little before another wave of fire and pain went through him. He wanted the pain to stop, but he had no idea what was wrong with him. He tried to remember what had happened to him to cause this pain. Was it poison from that drink he had gotten in the last town he was in? Was it infection or a disease from the wound on his back? He had gotten it from a battle with a demon a few days back. Was it that? Was it something else? He cried out again as his back wound burned.

Paetra slid down the ladder once more, causing rust to shower the pavement. She hit the ground running with her satchel tucked against her sides. Once she reached Aessa and Kito she slid into a crouch and began rummaging through the bag. For a few frantic moments, Paetra had the panicked thought that perhaps she had not packed any medication that day. However, after a moment, she felt her hand come to rest on the cool glass of a bottle. Paetra sighed with relief and brought the painkiller out. With great care, she plucked the cloth out of Kito's mouth and doused it in the fluid. She twisted it, letting the fluid drip into his open mouth. To make sure he swallowed it, she massaged his throat, before repeating the process.

Paetra looked up at Aessa gravely. "One of us should go try to find a healer."

Aessa let out a small sigh of relief when Paetra came over, giving him treatment. Was he going to be okay, she didn't know, but she knew Paetra seemed like she knew what she was going at least. That gave her some hope. Aessa sighed, and looking up at Paetra, she made her decision without much thought. "You should go. Who knows if I'll get stopped in the street.." She said, looking down at Kito. "And the faster we get this done, the better, right?" Aessa attempted to make her words sound hopeful, even as worried as she was. "Kito, don't worry. Just endure for a little bit longer, okay?" She said, her bangs covering her eyes. She had questions to ask, but she decided to save them for later... After all, he probably couldn't talk in his condition..

Kito tried to stop the liquid from going down his throat. What were they giving him? Poison? Was he such a burden? He turned his head to the side to keep the liquid from getting into his mouth. He must be dying, because his body didn't burn anymore. There was no pain, or fire. He just wanted to curl up and sleep now. He was so tired. He opened one eye again and looked at the two hazy figures. His vision wasn't back, yet, but it will come back. After he slept. He knew his eye color was really pale, an almost white color, but didn't worry much about it. He breathed out slowly, and shut his eye again.

Paetra cast a worried glance towards Aessa. "Are you sure? When he wakes up he will be so groggy that he might mistake you for an enemy. The only thing worse than a drugged soldier on the battlefield is a drugged angel on the streets."

"I'm sure I'll be fine, thank you!" Aessa said, looking down at Kito. She didn't think he'd do something like that, even if he was completely out of it, on drugs. Although he was a bit rude at times, he seemed like an okay guy, to Aessa. Plus, there wasn't many people around... Well, there was no people around the area, but still. Aessa would be the only one in danger, and well, she knew how to protect herself, at least. Aessa was a princess, after all. She had to learn those types of things in the castle.

Kito curled his uninjured wing around himself. He was starting to become cold. He was only half awake, but he could still hear the two women. He knew by the way the temperature was dropping that night was almost upon them. He wanted to tell them he could walk with help, but he was so tired. He couldn't moved his body too much and every movement wore him out. He wouldn't attack Aessa. He wasn't that far gone.

Paetra let a relieved breath escape her. "He is moving," she laughed. "I will be right back. See if he will let go of my cape long enough for it to be used as a blanket, he needs to keep warm." She stood up, examining the angel with a thoughtful eye. "There is a small bag of seed in my satchel, along with two apples. I imagine his metabolism makes it so that he needs constant refreshment, like a bird. When he is well enough, start him off with the seed and water. If I am not back soon, try mashing a little of the apple with some water. Be safe, Princess, Kito." With that, she jogged down the streets in search of an apothecary or clinic.

Aessa smiled with happiness when Paetra said he was moving, She nodded at all of Paetra's instructions, hoping she'd be able to remember them properly. Warmth... Thinking about it, even Aessa was starting to feel cold, as her cloak was not....very thick. She wasn't sure how she'd feel about basically feeding him, but she would if it had to be done. However, Aessa didn't think it'd take too long for Paetra to get back. She just had a feeling it wouldn't take too long. After all, many elves were good with the art of medicine and such, as most had a gentle nature. Aessa watched as Paetra made her way down the street, then looked back down at Kito. "You'll be okay... I'm sure you will be."

Kito was't cold anymore. His wing was keeping him pretty warm. Angel's wings were an amazing gift. Most Angels used their wings for warmth when they were cold. The feathers on the wings helped to keep a body warm and the cold away. Kito felt the cold coming in quicker and thought of Aessa, who he knew had stayed with him. He opened his eyes and was happy to be able to see more color than before. Her figure was still blurry, but not as much. He lifted his wing as if to offer her his warmth. He didn't want her to be cold.

(Oh, Kito.... Being such a gentleman..... )

{Time skip}

"What do you mean by, 'we need a specialist'?" Paetra crossed her arms in exasperation. "You're a healer! That is about as special as it may get!"

The healer looked down at his hands. "We aren't used to dealing with angels. They usually heal themselves. They're very... secretive. Their towns are fortresses for the gods' sake!"
Paetra puffed out her cheeks.

"What do you expect us to do, then," she asked quietly. The healer shrugged. "Keep him warm. If I remember correctly, there may be an Angelic healer towards the northwest side of town. In the meantime, he may heal himself. Try to figure out why he's reacting this way."

"Thank you for your help," Paetra sighed. She rose out of her chair and pushed it back under the table. The healer looked at her thoughtfully. "This may help as well," he offered, holding out a syringe. "It holds enough adrenaline to pep him back up, and combat anything trying to shut down his system."

Paetra lit up. "Thank you so much, sir!"

Aessa smiled, accepting his offer by nodding and moving in, to use his wings for warmth. "Thank you. It must hurt, to move, though... You didn't have to worry about me." She said, the worry for his condition showing in both her voice and expression. He seemed like his condition was getting a bit better, probably because he was able to keep warm. She wished she could tell him to tell her if he needed anything, but... He didn't really seem like he felt like talking, and he, in his condition, probably shouldn't. Aessa knew that he probably wouldn't ask if he did need anything anyways, he seemed more like an.. independent fellow.

Kito pulled his wing toward his body to keep her and him warm at the same time. He was starting to feel better, but he knew it would happen again. He never knew when it would happen, just that it would happen. He closed his eyes again and sighed as his whole body relaxed. He could finally sleep without worrying about Aessa getting cold. Normally he wouldn't care, but she was a princess. She was to be treated like one.

Paetra jogged back towards the two, hoping they hadn't gotten into any trouble. As she drew closer, she saw them huddled together. "Oi, if ya wanted ta be alone ya could 'ave just asked!" Paetra's accent thickened with relief and shock. If they had time to flirt, Kito was definitely getting better. "Now get yer hands off the angel so I can stab 'im with his medicine." She shook her head, giggling.

Aessa blushed when Paetra spoke, and pulled away quickly, but gently, not wanting to hurt him. "It wasn't like that, Paetra..." She said, and stepped back away from him, letting Paetra do her thing. She wondered who Paetra went to, because Aessa wanted to thank the doctor, healer, etc. who gave us what could possibly help a friend. She sighed, however, still worried. It was possible it couldn't work, or it could just make it worse... we wouldn't know.

Kito lay still as he listened to them talk. He was so tired still. He just wanted to sleep. He wondered what Paetra had gotten. Would his body allow him to have it? He didn't know. He wanted to tell them that he would be fine after a little rest, but he knew he needed to get out of the streets. He struggled to move his arms and legs, to push himself up, but they wouldn't move...

Paetra took a deep breath and plunged the needle into Kito's arm, making sure to hit a large vein. "That should kick start his system, I think," she breathed, sweeping her hair behind her ear. She stowed the syringe in her satchel. "We might be in the clear."

Aessa cringed as Paetra used the needle. She had always hated needles. It was a common fear, anyways. Many people shared the fear with her. Aessa nodded to acknowledge Paetra, replying with a quick, "That's good," before getting closer to Kito, worried about him. "Really...?" Aessa scanned Kito for any signs of him getting better.

Kito gasped and, in a swirl of feathers, lunged to his feet. He winced as he tried to move the injured wing. Dislocated. His shoulder and wing, both dislocated. He swayed as a wave of dizziness hit him. "W-what was that?" He shivered as he had a quick flashback of needles and tubes. Tests. He hated needles with a passion, but he wouldn't let anyone know it....

Paetra grinned. "That, my friend, was pure adrenaline. It is what saves your life in battle, and keeps you awake after a nightmare. It is what, how you say, burns in your blood, yes?" Paetra circled him, tutting. "Dislocations, that I can fix. Hunting falcons are often injured on the battlefield, and many find the ground unforgiving. What will be difficult to fix, however, is whatever the hell made an angel topple over." Paetra thought for a moment before snapping. "Ah, are you drunk?" She asked this with a bright innocence. "Oh, or perhaps you encountered hallucinatory drugs..."

Aessa smiled as he stood up, although, she knew he probably shouldn't move around too much, still. She laughed at Paetra's comment, and before Kito could say anything, "I don't think he's drunk or on drugs, Paetra." Although what she said before was a bit more worrying, especially to Aessa, who had been extremely surprised when he did fall over. "Kito? Do you know what made you collapse? It'd be best to get that fixed as soon as possible, you know..." She said, looking at him. It was very true, that it could be something he didn't want to talk about, but... Someone can't just live out their life, collapsing at random, Aessa knew.
